Ascension," an 18x24 inch acrylic on canvas, is a visual exploration of rebirth and transformation.  I sought to capture the mythic image of a creature rising from ashes, its fiery wings carrying it towards a new dawn.  This isn't a literal depiction, but rather an interpretation of the intense energy and powerful symbolism of renewal.

 The painting's creation involved a multi-layered process. I began with a base of dark, almost ashen tones, symbolizing the past left behind.  From this foundation, I built up vibrant layers of red, orange, and yellow, representing the flames of transformation.  Thick, expressive brushstrokes—sometimes gestural, sometimes controlled—shape the figure as it rises dynamically upward.  The upward trajectory, combined with the fiery palette, creates a visual narrative of rising above adversity and embracing new beginnings.

The style blends elements of abstract expressionism and symbolism, prioritizing emotional impact over strict realism.  The textured surface adds to the feeling of intense energy and transformation.
