"Sky Traces" is an abstract representation of the sky, not as a literal depiction, but as a feeling, a movement, an experience. I was interested in capturing the ephemeral nature of clouds, the way they shift and change, their fleeting beauty. The painting is not about representing a specific moment or type of sky, but rather the underlying energy and constant movement within the atmospheric expanse above us.
My approach was to create a sense of depth and movement through the layering and blending of acrylic paints. The swirling, almost marbled effect, was achieved through a combination of controlled and spontaneous brushstrokes, allowing for a balance between precision and organic flow. The color palette was kept intentionally limited—muted blues and grays, punctuated by hints of white and a soft pink—to create a sense of serenity and tranquility, yet with an underlying dynamism. The texture of the paint itself is also important; I wanted to create a sense of tactility, as if you could almost reach out and touch the swirling clouds.
The title, "Sky Traces," suggests the ephemeral nature of these atmospheric events, the way they leave their mark and disappear, constantly changing. This piece invites the viewer to contemplate not only the visual elements but the larger feeling of limitless, ever-shifting skies.
